When I look at the quality of life in Plattsburgh, I can’t help but compare it to my experiences living in major metropolitan areas across the country. While I cannot expect Plattsburgh, with a population of approximately 20,000, to have the same variety of offerings that you would find in a city with a population of 1 million or more, I do hope to find a similar level of quality.

I used to believe that a small town could not attract top talent: That the best of the best went where their talents and skills were rewarded with higher salaries, better opportunities and more “fringe” benefits. I have come to learn this is not necessarily the case. Plattsburgh’s small-town charm has changed my mind. I believe, given the proper exposure, life in Plattsburgh would appeal to many people looking for a slower pace of life and an escape from the high-stress rat race of the big city.
